Templo Bethel Pentecostes

Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Message

Pentecost is a significant event in Christian tradition, often associated with the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles.

Here are five characteristics of Pentecost:

Descent of the Holy Spirit:

The primary characteristic of Pentecost is the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles, as described in the New Testament book of Acts (Acts 2:1-4). This event occurred 50 days after Easter and is considered the fulfillment of Jesus’ promise to send the Holy Spirit to guide and empower his followers.

Speaking in Tongues:

Another notable feature of Pentecost is the phenomenon of speaking in tongues or languages previously unknown to the speakers. According to the biblical account, the apostles were able to speak in different languages, enabling them to communicate with people from various regions who had gathered in Jerusalem for the feast.

Empowerment for Witnessing:

The Holy Spirit empowered the apostles to boldly proclaim the message of Jesus Christ. Before Pentecost, the apostles were often fearful and unsure of their mission, but the arrival of the Holy Spirit gave them courage and conviction to spread the Gospel.

Formation of the Early Christian Community:

Pentecost marks the beginning of the Christian Church. The outpouring of the Holy Spirit not only empowered individuals but also united them in a communal bond. The believers devoted themselves to fellowship, breaking bread, and prayer, forming the early Christian community.

Harvest of Souls:

Following Peter’s sermon on the day of Pentecost, about 3,000 people embraced the message of Jesus, repented, and were baptized. This rapid growth is seen as a symbolic harvest of souls, illustrating the transformative power of the Holy Spirit and the effectiveness of the apostles’ witness.

A passion for God

It is an intense and spirited devotion, marked by a profound belief in the power of the Holy Spirit and a commitment to experiencing the transformative presence of God. In the Pentecostal tradition, this passion is often expressed through exuberant worship, fervent prayer, and a deep engagement with spiritual gifts. It fuels a desire for a direct and personal encounter with the divine, driving individuals to seek a more profound understanding of God’s will for their lives.

Belief

  • We believe in Jesus as the Son of God and the second person of the Holy Trinity. We hold that Jesus is fully divine and emphasize the importance of His virgin birth, teachings, miracles, sacrificial death on the cross for the forgiveness of sins, resurrection, ascension into heaven, and the anticipation of His second coming.

John 14:26 – “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”
